it is our pleasure to announce the second edition of the Avogadro Colloquia that will take place on September 27, 2013 at the Sala Azzurra, Palazzo della Carovana, Scuola Normale Superiore.
This event is promoted by the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and organized in collaboration with the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and the CECAM-IT-SNS node and with the support of the Theoretical and Computational Chemistry Division. The Avogadro Colloquia, created by the SCI in 2012 with the first event dedicated to "Organic Bio-Electronics: challenges and opportunities for Chemistry", and organized in Bologna, have the scope to create a discussion forum on areas of chemistry of growing interest. This second event will be dedicated to "Challenges for theoretical and computational chemistry in Horizon2020".
The meeting is based on invited lectures of Italian and foreign speakers of international level, and is open to the participation of students and researchers regularly registered. The meeting also contains a discussion section on topics of interest for theoretical and computational chemistry under the lead of the invited speakers and discussion leaders with contributions from the participants.
This year the Avogadro Colloquia will also be the occasion to assign the Roetti Medal and the Scrocco Prize to young researches who have particularly contributed to the development of theoretical and computational chemistry.
We hope that you will find this initiative stimulating and that you and your students will be interested in participating.
Thanks and best regards,
Vincenzo Barone, Scuola Normale Superiore
